日豪、護衛艦契約締結、防衛連携が新段階へ

4月17日から19日の日程で来豪した小泉進次郎防衛大臣が、リチャード・マールズ国防相と会談し、海上自衛隊の最新鋭護衛艦「もがみ」型をベースにした、オーストラリア海軍の新型艦の共同開発について契約を結びました。

マールズ国防相と小泉防衛大臣はメルボルンで、総額100億ドル規模の契約に関する覚書に署名しました。

三菱重工業は、「もがみ」型をベースにしたフリゲート艦3隻を日本で建造し、2029年以降にオーストラリア海軍へ引き渡す予定です。さらに、追加の8隻はオーストラリア国内で建造される計画です。
