Last Friday (17 November) SBS Radio Lao Program was at the community walk to raise public awareness of domestic and family violence at Cabramatta, NSW.

The walk was organised by Cabramatta and Fairfield Police LAC.

Many community organisations were present as well as some public and High schools in the area.

The walk started from Cabravale Memorial ark in Cabramatta along Railway Parade and the official ceremony was held at Freedom Plaza which included speeches and student performances. Some dignitaries were in attendance:

· Detective Superintendent Michael McLean - Commander of Fairfield PAC

· Mr. Frank Carbone - Mayor of Fairfield City Council

· Ms. Dai Le - Federal Member for Fowler

· Mr. Tri Vo - Member for Cabramatta

· Mr. Charlie Garnjana-Goonchorn - Acting Consul-General, Thai Consulate

· Religious and Communities Leaders

· Local Public and High Schools.

SBS Radio Lao Programs also had an opportunity to talk to a (Lao) Multicultural Community Liaison Officer attached to Fairfield Police LAC, Ms. Nina Long.
