Victims fleeing domestic violence will now have access to greater independence, with banks offering flexible arrangements.

This week (thurs 28 may) the banks announced changes to ID requirements for opening a bank account.

The new measure requires the applicant to provide only one reference, from a doctor or manager of a refuge centre, to start an account.

Previously, applicants were required to show about 100 ID points.
