Christmas Island detention centre to reopen, local council says it's a knee-jerk reaction

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced the re-opening of Christmas Island detention facilities as border security shapes up as a critical election issue. However, the CEO of the local council in the island has dubbed it a "political knee-jerk reaction" following the government's defeat in parliament over the 'Medevac' bill.
