NEPAL: Australian youth in critical condition after rhino attack

An 18-year-old Australian youth who has been severely injured by a wild rhinoceros in southern Nepal is said to be in critical condition.

William Peter who was bushwalking with his 50-year-old local guide Jitu Mahato, in the Chitwan National Park on Monday afternoon were reportedly attacked by a charging rhinoceros.

Citing local officials, Himalayan Times said the Australian, reportedly in a serious condition, and the Nepali guide were airlifted to a hospital in the capital Kathmandu.

National Park staff with help from the local hotel entrepreneurs, guides and members of the security forces had managed to rescue the pair.
