Reports of sexual violence have spiked in NSW, according to new crime data

An increased willingness from teenage victims to report sexual violence allegations has prompted a major spike in incidents being referred to NSW Police. The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research on Thursday said police recorded 940 allegations of sexual assault in March 2021.

Independent specialist domestic violence workers would be on-site at NSW police stations to help victims, under a trial to begin as soon as next month.
