Police say a 33-year-old driver was stopped after detecting a vehicle speeding at 96 km/h in a 70 km/ zone in western Sydney suburb of Smithfield.

In a video released on social media by the NSW Police's Traffic and Highway Patrol command the Police officer is heard saying "he hasn't seen anything like that in his life."
The Liverpool resident was also issued infringement notice for mobile phone usage and for not restraining a two-year-old child "as prescribed", who was found sitting on a child seat in the back seat of the car.

With double demerits in place for the Queen's birthday long weekend, the driver was issued three infringement notices totalling 24 demerit points.
