Thousands take part in climate change strikes

One-hundred-and-ten towns and cities across Australia have had tens of thousands of students and workers take to their streets to demand stronger action on climate change.

Australia is one of the first countries to stage the protests, which are sweeping across the globe this week.

In August last year, sixteen-year-old Swedish school girl Gretta Thunberg took time off from school to demonstrate outside the Swedish parliament, calling for stronger climate action.

Other students took up the teenager's call, and more student strikes began over the world.
