Despite being declared illegal many Nepali girls are still being enslaved says Urmila Chaudhary. Known as Kamalaris, the girls are taken away from their families when they are young and are forced to work as slaves for their buyers. A former Kamalari herself, Urmila Chaudhary's work to end slavery and highlight Nepali girls' right to education has now being recognized by an international award, received in previous years by the likes of Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela and Angela Merkel. Urmila Chaudhary spoke to SBS Nepali about the work she's currently doing to help former Kamalari girls get proper education.
