The Australian Government has announced a $5 million assistance package for affected communities in Nepal. Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong and Minister for Multicultural Affairs Anne Aly announced the package in a joint media release on Friday, August 28 2026.
At the time of publication, Nepal Police says 359 people have died in the floods, while the Australian Government updated its figures this morning, confirming that 39 Australian citizens were among those reported missing.
