Earlier this week, on May 27, Nepali climber Kami Rita Sherpa set a new world record by summiting Mount Everest for the 31st time. The 55-year-old, who first climbed the peak in 1994, broke his own record, which he had set last year, by climbing the tallest mountain in the world 30 times. Listen to this historic interview with Sherpa, conducted by Smriti Dhungana for SBS Nepali in May 2018. Over the next couple of months, we will continue to republish select content from our archives as SBS celebrates its Golden Jubilee.
