On average six babies are stillborn in Australia every day, a figure that has remained steady for 20 years. But Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and refugee and migrant women are much more likely to experience still birth than other women.

A new report in the Medical Journal of Australia has mapped out possible solutions to preventable stillbirths among migrant and refugee women.

Lead author of the report, Professor Jane Yelland, from the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, said there are a number of barriers migrant and refugee women face when accessing information about pregnancy, and the big one is language.
