Indra Ban came to Australia back in 1975 and went on to become the first Nepali to receive the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). Over the past 50 years, she has been guiding and supporting the Nepali community in Sydney and around Australia. In this 10-part special series, we’ll hear about her journey and experiences in Australia. In this fifth episode of the series, Indra Ban spoke to SBS Nepali about how the Nepalese Australian Association was founded in 1976, and the need and purpose behind its establishment.
