Following the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods in Central Nepal on August 26, climate change has become a major topic of discussion.
At the same time, the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is underway in New York, where climate change is among the key agenda items.
Representatives from countries around the world, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah, are attending the UNGA.
Against the backdrop of ongoing climate change discussions following Nepal's devastating floods in August, SBS Nepali spoke with Australian tunnel rescue specialist Professor Arnold Dix about climate change, its impact on Nepal and Australia's role in the Asia-Pacific region.
Dix had travelled to Nepal to assist with search and rescue efforts after the floods. The rescue team he was involved in rescued two people alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A hydropower project nine days after the disaster.
