Political tensions rise as Australian national Karm Gilespie is sentenced to death in China

Beijing has accused Canberra of politicising the case of Karm Gilespie, the Australian man sentenced to death by a court in China for drug trafficking. Some suspect the verdict could be politically motivated, given recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries. Beijing has reiterated its "zero tolerance" policy on drugs, insisting the ruling is in accordance with Chinese law.
