What is the role of non-governmental organisations in sustainable development?

Every year 27 February marks the World NGO Day. The motto for this year is 'Building a sustainable future: The role of NGOs in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals'. Melbourne lecturer Sabitra Kaphle spoke to SBS Nepali about the role of non-governmental organisations (NGOs). Nepal-based NGO Manavsewa Ashram representatives have visited Australia and interacted with the Nepali community. The foundation's president Ramjee Adhikari says they aim to end homelessness in Nepal in the coming two years. Similarly, Nepal's Social Welfare Council Sanjay Kumar Mallik has given an insight into the workings and regulation of NGOs in Nepal.
