Agobloco brings carnaval vibrancy to St Kilda Festival in Melbourne

Agobloco is turning 10 years in 2019 and will be playing at the St Kilda Festival as part of the Latin Parade. The 'bloco' invites everyone to sing along and dance to the Brazilian street carnaval rhythm.


St Kilda Festival's Latin Street Carnaval, consists of four Carnaval roving bands marching simultaneously through the Esplanade, between the Latin Quarter and Acland Street.

Inspired by the street Carnaval of Latin America, the parade features four Carnaval marching bands. Agobloco presents the popular Marchinhas from the 1920s to the 1960s. 

In this interview musicians Manga Morais, Adam May and Ben Carr and singer João Oliveira reveal the story behind the group's creation and its mission of presenting the earliest defining Carnaval songs.

The parade will take place at the St Kilda Festival, em Melbourne, Sunday 10 February, from 5pm. All welcome.
