A 12-year-old girl died on Thursday after she was set afire by a 19-year-old man in Ludhiana (India), who is also accused of raping the victim repeatedly during the last eight days.
The victim's family blocked the national highway, placing her dead body in the middle of the road, to demand the arrest of the accused who is still at large.
Before her death in a statement, the victim said that her neighbour repeatedly raped her during the past eight days, and threatened to kill her if she tried to resist. She told the police that she was raped again on Wednesday at her home, and when she threatened to inform her family and police, she was doused with kerosene and set afire.
According to The Indian Express, police has registered an FIR against the 19-year-old man named by the victim, his father and two brothers. While the two brothers and the father have been arrested, a search is on for the prime accused in this case.
An FIR has been registered at Focal Point police station in which police has booked the father and two brothers of the accused under section 120-B (conspiracy) of IPC. His father Harish and two brothers, Anil and Laxman (aged 19 and 22), have now been arrested.
