The 'Jat' agitation for reservation in government jobs that caused mayhem in Haryana for four days, turned opprobrious with reports of several stranded women commuters being raped near Murthal in the state.

According to media reports, goons dragged stranded women commuters from their vehicles and raped them in nearby fields in wee hours of Monday morning.

According to a report in The Tribune, goons attacked vehicles moving towards Delhi, forcing the occupants to run for safety. Some women who could not escape, were stripped and raped.
While people from nearby villages provided blankets to cover the terrified victims of this horrific crime, according to reports, police officials advised the victims not to talk about the incident.

While the top police authorities in Haryana have denied that women commuters were raped, Punjab and Haryana high court has now taken suo-motu cognizance of the media reports and sought investigation in to the matter.
