On their visit to Punjab Agriculture University, a five-member Australian delegation has highlighted the historical and institutional similarities between the two countries and have pressed for exploration of potential collaboration areas.
Dr Sunita Dhindsa from PAU Alumni Australia told SBS Punjabi that the discussions at Punjab Agriculture University were followed up after the previous visit of Dr Deep Saini, Vice Chancellor, University of Canberra.
“We need to have a strong bond between universities in various areas of research,” said Dr Dhindsa.
“There should be a focus on creating a long lasting knowledge base through joint degree programmes as well as through the exchange and interaction of students and faculty.”
The PAU Vice Chancellor, BS Dhillon, while discussing the collaborative efforts in research, urged the PAU alumni and Punjabi Diaspora in general to sponsor the boarding and lodging of agriculture students going for higher studies to Australia.
Meanwhile, PAU Alumni Australia have shown their commitment to support the students and faculty who will be taking the exchange programs.
PAU Alumni Australia is an umbrella organisation looking after the social and general well-being of more than four hundred members.
