An Australian man was arrested at the New Delhi airport on Sunday after he was reportedly caught carrying narcotics in his suitcase.

The man identified as Mohamed Umar Turay was taken into custody by the Central Industrial Security Force at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after he looked ‘suspicious’.

He was intercepted at around 11:30 am when he arrived at the airport ahead of his Air India flight to Melbourne.

During the frisking, the CISF allegedly found seven kilograms of Amphetamines worth Rs 21 crore in the international market.

The contraband items were hidden in the false bottom of his suitcase that he was trying to smuggle to Melbourne, according to a CISF report.

The passenger and the seized drugs were handed over to the Customs Officials at the airport for investigation.
