Bourke Street attack: Bhavita Patel dies in hospital

Bhavita Patel's family is distraught with grief at her death after they decided to turn off the life support on Monday night.

The sixth victim of the Bourke Street car rampage has been identified as Bhavita Patel.

33-year-old Bhavita was walking back to work after her lunch break when she got caught in the mindless rampage on January 20th.

She passed away due to her injuries on Monday evening in Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Bhavita’s family is distraught with grief.

“I have no idea what to say about what happened except that I miss her and love her so much and can’t believe that I won’t see her anymore.

“My parents and I are broken. But we all appreciate the love we’re getting from people,” her younger brother Mitesh told Herald Sun.

Bhavita was a senior manager with Deloitte in Melbourne.

A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges of murder after he allegedly drove a car into the busy Bourke Street Mall, striking down dozens of pedestrians on January 20.

The other five victims are three-month-old Zachary Bryant, 10-year-old Thalia Hakin, 33-year-old Matthew Si, 22-year-old Jess Mudie, and a 25-year-old Japanese national.

Nine people are still in hospital, one in critical condition.
