After remaining under suspension for several days, the decks have been cleared for all-rounder Hardik Pandya to join the Indian cricket team and will fly out “at the earliest” to join the Indian cricket team in New Zealand for the ongoing One-Day International series against the host team.
Batsman KL Rahul will also be seen in action with the India A squad that is currently playing a 50-overs series against England Lions in Thiruvananthapuram in southern India.
The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in a press release late on Thursday, hours after the Committee of Administrators lifted the ban on the two cricketers with immediate effect. The matter is still pending an inquiry in India’s Supreme Court.
The duo was issued a show cause notice for the comments that were deemed misogynistic and sexist, on a popular celebrity talk show-Koffee with Karan. As a result, they were sent home from India’s tour of Australia nearly two weeks ago and were subsequently banned.

During the show, the pair was chatting to the host and established Bollywood producer-director Karan Johar when they made some comments about women which drew flak from the fans and social media users, prompting the BCCI to take stern action against the cricketers.

Pandya later apologised for his comments.
Given that India is playing the second ODI against New Zealand on Saturday, Pandya will most likely get a chance to play in the third match in Mount Maunganui on Monday, January 28.
Meanwhile, Rahul will join his India A teammates for the matches on January 27, 29 and 31.
