A Punjabi shopkeeper Ajit Singh Farrar has lost an eye during a lunchtime robbery at his dairy shop at Hamilton in the Waikato region of New Zealand’s North Island.

58-year-old father suffered serious face and hand injuries following knifepoint assault at his Dinsdale store.

Farrar’s daughter told Stuff.Co.Nz that injury is very serious and surgeons will not be able to salvage Mr Farrar's eye.

"Dad was advised today that he needs a replacement eye, which will move and look completely normal except he won't be able to see," said his daughter.

The family is now concerned over the safety issues related to their family business that has been robbed a number of times.
"We don't want dad to keep the family business anymore.”
“We shouldn't have to worry about mum and dad's safety when they go to work every morning. It's such a shame,” said Mr Farrar’s daughter, who don't want to be named.

Hamilton Police are seeking four individuals who may be able to assist with enquiries into this aggravated robbery.

A suspicious group of men were captured on CCTV in the neighbourhood at the time of the crime.
Gagan Chauhan from Hamilton told SBS Punjabi that the local community is shocked to hear this news.

“This is such a heart breaking and terrible news for the Hamilton community, it happened to one of our family friends and now I can seriously feel the pain what others went through too in the past incidents we heard.”

“Nothing will ever do justice to the Farrar family but we would appreciate some justice and action from government for the safety of innocent hard working individuals.”

Ferrar family is living in New Zealand from last 30 years.
