Both the men and women's teams of Australia and India will face off on the inaugural day of the International Festival of Hockey in Melbourne today, ie. Wednesday.
The other participating teams are Malaysia and New Zealand.
The International Festival of Hockey is scheduled for 23rd – 30th November 2016 in Melbourne and Bendigo.
This is the biggest hockey event after the Rio Games and the first one in Australia where the Kookaburras (men) and the Hockeyroos (women) will be playing in one event.
Hockey Australia says the event is not just a hockey tournament.
“We’re giving this event a festival look-and-feel where fans can not only enjoy world-class hockey but also make the most of a fun day out with their families.”
A media call was held at the Melbourne Zoo on Tuesday with the captains of all teams participating in the International Festival of Hockey at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Melbourne, Victoria.
