For 22-year-old Roshni Misbah, her faith and passion for biking go hand in hand.

The university student is passionate about bikes and is fast acquiring a celebrity status on social media.

She proudly wears a hijab and rides her sports bike clad in a leather jacket, a pair of jeans and high-heeled shoes.

Her unique style has earned her the moniker of ‘hijabi biker’(hijab-wearing biker).

She says her passion for biking doesn’t interfere with her faith.

"Hijab can never be a hurdle to anything. It is a part of my life, part of my culture and it is my choice to wear my hijab," she told ScoopWhoop News.

A student of Arab Islamic Culture at Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University, Roshni, was studying in year nine when she first rode a bike.

Coming from a conservative Muslim family, she faced many questions.

While others in the family did not approve of it, she found support from her father who encouraged her to follow her dreams.

“My uncles and everyone else would ask my father why he had given me a bike because it is not meant for girls, and even, who would marry me?” she said.

Besides helping her father in his business, she worked a part-time job to save money for her first bike.

A member of several biking groups of Delhi, Roshni says she is happy to break stereotypes.

“It is sad that women are expected to only cook, get married and have children. This despite the fact that women are excelling in all the fields,” she told Hindustan Times.
Roshni says she is happy if she is able to inspire someone.

"Whenever I hit the roads, I see women, children, girls. They become very joyous when they see me and start screaming. And I actually feel like I’m inspiring," she told Scoop Whoop.
