Victoria Police are seeking help from the public to locate a man in relation to a series of Gumtree scams.
According to the police, John Antulov, posing as a buyer, contacts people who have advertised electronic devices for sale on the website.
The 36-year-old then meets the victims and produces a screen shot of a false internet transfer showing the money has been paid to the seller’s account.
Antulov then leaves the property and the victims later become aware that they have been scammed.
Detectives from Banyule Crime Investigation Unit are investigating and are aware of at least three incidents in Victoria.
It’s also believed the scam has been performed interstate.
Police have released an image of Antulov in the hope someone can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to submit confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
