A Punjabi youth has died after being run over by a truck in the Waikato region of New Zealand.
The incident happened around 12:30pm on Thursday, at the intersection of Alexandra Redoubt Road and Roberts Road in Tuakau in South Auckland, police said in a statement.
"It appears that a rubbish collection worker fell from a rubbish truck and died after being run over."
Worksafe NZ has been notified and police are investigating.
Jaspreet Singh Rajpura from NZ Punjabi News told SBS Punjabi the deceased hailed from Mansa district in Punjab.

A community spokesperson, Parminder Singh Papatoetoe told SBS Punjabi that Kamal was living in New Zealand from the last few years.
“We are in deep shock following the death of Mr Singh in such tragic circumstances.
“We are told he was run over by his own work truck. Worksafe and Police are investigating the matter.
“He was very kind, humble and a routine visitor at the Takanini Sikh Temple.
“The community recognises him as a devoted Sikh gentleman who was often seen serving at the Gurdwara sahib [Sikh temple].
“We express our deepest sympathy to the family. He has one sister living permanently in New Zealand.
