The new property is located at a walking distance from the Gurdwara situated in the suburb of Eight Miles Plains.

Mr Singh said the property will be used for the newly proposed Educational and Welfare Centre.

"We are pleased to announce that the Brisbane Sikh Temple with the help of the local Sikh community has purchased a new 4.5 Million property at a cost of approximately 4.5 Million dollars," said Mr Singh.

“The Educational and Welfare Centre will offer a unique Sikhi learning experience that reaches out to all age groups.

“The Centre will not only augment Gurdwara’s role in propagating Sikh value and teachings but also to serve the growing social needs of the community.

“The new property is equipped with the facilities including a seminar room, a multipurpose open hall that can also be used as a recital hall; kids play area and six houses to accommodate people with compelling needs including those who are victims of domestic violence.

“Last week, we’d the opening ceremony that started with the blessing of holy Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

“The head priest read extracts from the scriptures and thereby blessed the assembled congregation, honouring the many hundreds of people who have contributed towards purchasing the property.

“We are feeling blessed today.  We needed a building to accommodate the needs of ever increasing population of Sikhs in Brisbane and the nearby areas.

“We are thankful to the community members who supported towards this cause,” said Jasjot Singh, President of the Brisbane Sikh Temple.
