Four Sikh men that NSW Police officers want to speak with have denied they shouted 'Allahu Akbar' in a western Sydney cinema.

Police were called at the Hoyts Blacktown at Westpoint shopping centre on Sunday night after reports of a disturbance.

Investigators were told four men yelled 'Allahu Akbar' within two cinemas at the complex causing some concerned customers to leave the building, a police spokesman told AAP.

On Monday, investigators had sought help from the Glenwood Sikh Temple to identify four men who were recorded on a surveillance camera leaving Hoyts Blacktown.

The four men visited the Glenwood Sikh Temple and refuted the allegations that they shouted the Islamic slogan in the cinema.

"They met us and clarified that they had an altercation with the cinema staff over switching to another movie hall," Jagtar Singh, General Secretary of the committee told SBS Punjabi.

"They say they were just walking around in the cinema halls and after the altercation, they just left."

The men have not been charged and are likely to visit the local police station on Wednesday.
