darwin sbs punjabi

This SBS Punjabi program was broadcast live from Darwin.

This radio program features the voices and experiences of Darwin’s growing Punjabi community. As part of SBS’s 50 Years of Belonging celebrations, this special outside broadcast included powerful live interviews about migration and everyday life in the Northern Territory’s capital.

SBS Punjabi connected with the community on the ground, including an interview with Tejinder Pal Singh, Australian of the Year – NT Local Hero (2017), about his work with local Indigenous communities.

The program also features Jasminder Anand, a respected Darwin resident of 30 years, who reflected on the Punjabi community’s journey in the NT in the last three decades.

The last heartfelt segment highlights the experiences of international students and youth-led efforts to keep the Punjabi language alive in regional Darwin.
Do not miss the soulful singing by local talent.
