Brisbane man to lose Australian permanent residency over domestic violence and drug offences

A 38-year-old man of Indian origin who has lived in Australia since 2015 is set to lose his permanent residency and be removed from the country following a decision by the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART). The decision followed court findings relating to multiple domestic violence offences, including threatening his wife with a knife in the presence of their minor child, as well as drug possession offences. A subsequent appeal to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) was also dismissed. The man, who obtained a Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and had been living in Brisbane, had his visa cancelled after being found not to meet Australia's character requirements.
