Update: Days after publishing this podcast episode, Mr Kundi passed after remaining on life support for weeks.
The incident occurred during an argument between Mr Kundi and a woman known to him.
According to police, Gaurav became aggressive during their interaction. However, the woman disputes this, saying he was simply intoxicated and had done nothing wrong. This has triggered public concern, particularly among the South Asian community.
Many community members are calling for greater accountability from police. A section of community members has raised concerns about how such arrests are handled and have called for understanding and sensitivity while dealing with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals.

Commissioner Grant Stevens has previously said that initial indications suggest the officers followed protocol, but the arrest is still being investigated.
"It's still quite a complex investigation, so there will be a lot of work to be done at this point in time. We'll see what transpires from that," he said.
