Palemia o Samoa, Fiame Naomi Mata'afa.

We were very fortunate to secure an interview with the prime minister of the caretaker government of Samoa, le Afioga Fiame Naomi Mata'afa.

Fiame spoke to us about the measures put in place to control the dengue fever outbreak in Samoa. She told us that the advice from medical authorities is that the outbreak will peak in another 2 or 3 weeks.

She also spoke about the elections later this month and the likelihood of getting into a coalition to form a government should her new political party Samoa ua Potopoto (SUP) fail to secure an outright majority in the elections.

Fiame also spoke at length about the quota for women in the parliament of Samoa.

This was one of the contentious issues after the last parliamentary elections that ousted HRPP that had been in power (with Fiame Naomi Mata'afa in its cabinet) for four decades.
