Samoan actor Lawrence Ola stars in 'Strangers in a Carpark', one of the few films where the main character is a Samoan and played by a Samoan actor.

Lawrence Ola was born in Otahuhu, South Auckland, and moved to Sydney when he was very young.

He told us in this interview that he started acting in school plays and sang at church, but he never imagined making a living out of it.

Lawrence is the popular face of a few commercials on Australian TV, and it was on one of these ads that he was noticed by director Stuart McBratney who casted him to play Aleki Leota in his latest film, 'Strangers in a Carpark'.

The film 'Strangers in a Carpark' was shot entirely in Newcastle and is perhaps the first film in Australia where the main character (Aleki Leota) is played by a Samoan, Mr Lawrence Ola.
