The international soprano Sonja Šarić will be competing in the 2019 Elizabeth Connell Prize in Sydney on 5 and 7 September. This international singing competition will be judged by Maestro Richard Bonynge AC CBE and be held in conjunction with the JSRB Bel Canto Award.
Elizabeth Connell Prize is open to the sopranos of the world aged 25-34 who show the potential to sing the dramatic repertoire. This prize was established in 2011 by the Foundation from a legacy left by the late Elizabeth Connell, the great South African dramatic soprano who made her debut in Sydney at the opening of the Sydney Opera House in War & Peace in 1973.
Joan Sutherland & Richard Bonynge Bel Canto Award is open to Australian and New Zealand singers aged 20-30, the Bel Canto Award is to honour the late Dame Joan Sutherland, known as one of the greatest Bel Canto singers of all time, and Maestro Richard Bonynge, bel canto expert.
