Anzac தினத்தை முன்னிட்டு முன்னறிவிக்கப்படாத விஜயமாக பிரதமர் Malcolm Turnbull, Afghanistan மற்றும் Iraq நாடுகளில் தங்கியுள்ள ஆஸ்திரேலிய துருப்புகளை சென்று சந்தித்துள்ளார். அங்கு அவர்களுடன் இணைந்து Anzac நிகழ்வுகளில் கலந்துகொண்ட பிரதமர் ஆஸ்திரேலிய இராணுவத்தினருக்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்தார்.
"This trip was not just an occasion to celebrate Anzac day with Australians (and New Zealanders) who are serving on the front lines, it was an invaluable opportunity to assess the progress of the wars in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan," the prime minister said in a statement.
Afghanistan இல் 270 ஆஸ்திரேலிய இராணுவத்தினர் பணியாற்றுகின்றனர். 2002ம் ஆண்டிலிருந்து இதுவரை 42 இராணுவத்தினர் Afghanistan யிலும், இருவர் Iraq யிலும் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனரென்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.
"By confronting and defeating the terrorists on the battlefield, we are helping make the world - and Australia - a safer place."
இந்த விஜயங்களின் போது ஈராக் பிரதமர் Haider Al-Abadi மற்றும் Afghan ஜனாதிபதி Ashraf Ghani ஆகியோரையும் பிரதமர் Malcolm Turnbull சந்தித்துள்ளார். இதேவேளை அமெரிக்காவின் Secretary of Defense James Mattis உடனும் சந்தித்துப் பேசியுள்ளார்.
It has been an honour to meet the servicemen and women in the Middle East, to thank the Anzacs of today for their service.
Mr Turnbull also met with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi in Baghdad and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul during the trip
He also held a meeting with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis, where he reiterated Australia's commitment to defeating terrorism and working alongside US, NATO and Afghan partners to build Afghanistan's security institutions.
