ஆஸ்திரேலியத் தலைநகர் கான்பராவுக்கும் சிங்கபூருக்குமிடைய முதல் சர்வதேச விமானப் போக்குவரத்து சிங்கப்பூர் ஏர்லைன்ஸ் செப்டம்பர் மாதம் முதல் துவங்குகிறது. இதன்மூலம் கான்பரா விமான நிலையம் சர்வதேச விமான நிலையமாக செயல்படத் துவங்கும்.
நியூ சிலாந்து தலைநகர் வெல்லிங்டன் நகருக்கும் சிங்கப்பூருக்குமிடையே பறக்கும் சிங்கப்பூர் ஏர்லைன்ஸ் விமானம் கான்பரா சர்வதேச விமானத்தில் தரை இறங்கிச் செல்லும். ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஆஸ்திரேலியத் தலைநகர் கான்பராவுக்கு சுமார் இரண்டு லட்சம் பயணிகள் செல்கின்றனர். எனவே கான்பராவுக்கு துவக்கப்படும் சர்வதேச விமான சேவை எதிர்வரும் ஆண்டுகளில் அதிகரிக்கும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.25 மில்லியன் டாலர் செலவில் கான்பரா விமான நிலையத்தில் Customs & Immigration என்று புதிய நடைமுறைகள் அறிமுகம் செய்யப்படவுள்ளன.
Canberra hopes to become a gateway to the world with Singapore Airlines agreeing to launch international flights from the region. The national capital is to become a stopover between Singapore and New Zealand. Close to 200,000 people visit the ACT from overseas each year. Twenty-five million dollars will now be spent to fit out the terminal with customs and immigration facilities. Tourism is worth more than two billion dollars annually to the region.
