இங்கு புலம்பெயர்ந்து வந்தவர்கள் தங்கள் பெற்றோரின் விசா விண்ணப்பத்தை சமர்ப்பிப்பதற்கு அதிகம் சம்பாதிக்கவேண்டிய நிர்ப்பந்தம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது.
விலை உயர்த்தப்பட்ட தற்காலிக பெற்றோர் வீசா இன்னும் செனட்டில் அனுமதிக்காகக் காத்திருக்கையில், Malcolm Turnbull அரசாங்கம் பெற்றோர் தொடர்பிலான விசாவில் பிறிதொரு மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இது பெற்றோரின் குடியேற்ற விசாக்களை பெறுவதை மிகவும் கடினமாக்குகிறது.
புலம்பெயர் குடும்பங்கள் தங்கள் உறவினர்களின் விசா விண்ணப்பங்களுக்கு நிதிப்பிணை அளிக்க விரும்பினால் அதாவது Assurance of Support அளிக்க விரும்பினால் அவர்கள் கணிசமான அளவுக்கு மேல் சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டும் என ஓர் உச்சவரம்பினை Department of Social Services நிர்ணயித்துள்ளது.
ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் உள்ள ஒரு தம்பதியினர் தங்கள் பெற்றோருக்கு அவர்கள் குடிபெயர்ந்து வருவதற்கான Assurance of Support அளிக்க விரும்பினால், அவர்கள் ஆண்டு ஒன்றிற்கு $115,475.00 சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டும். இது முன்னர் ஆண்டு ஒன்றிற்கு $45,185 ஆக இருந்தமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.
இதுவே ஒரு தனி நபராயின் அவர் இப்போது $ 86,606.00 சம்பாதிக்க வேண்டும்.

அவுஸ்திரேலியாவில் தங்கள் பெற்றோர்களை நீண்ட ஹ்தின் keelகாலம் வைத்திருக்க அனுமதிக்கும் விசா முறைமை, 2017 ஆம் ஆண்டு மே மாதம் 5 ஆம் திகதி அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இதனை Assistant Minister of Department of Home Affairs, Alex Hawke அறிவித்தார்.
செனட் அனுமதிக்காகக் காத்திருக்கும் இத்திட்டத்தின் படி, பெற்றோர்களை மூன்று வருட விசாவில் இங்கு வரவழைக்க $5000.00 கொடுக்கவேண்டும். அவர்களுக்கு ஐந்து வருட விசா பெறுவதற்கு $10,000.00 மற்றும் 10 வருட விசா பெற $20,000.00 கொடுக்க வேண்டும்.
புதிய விசா திட்டத்தின் கீழ், ஆண்டுதோறும் 15,000 விசாக்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டும்.
The government says the scheme is designed to make sure sponsors can support the new migrants and themselves and is mandatory for some visa categories such as the parent, aged dependant, contributory parent and remaining relative visa.
Indian migrants in Australia who have campaigned vigorously for a long stay visa for parents have slammed the changes and called it ‘discriminatory’.
Jasvinder Sidhu, founder of the Parent Long Stay Visa Committee (PLSVC), told SBS Hindi that lifting the income threshold means fewer families can reunite with their parents.
“This is a discriminatory policy and will affect the Indian community the most,” he says.
Mr Sidhu says Indian migrants who have worked hard, paid taxes, contributed thousands of dollars to the education sector will suffer the most.
“Earlier migrants from Vietnam, Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Italy and many others have been able to bring their entire families, including parents and grandparents, to Australia through family reunion visas without much issues or costs.
“Our community works hard, pays taxes, has contributed thousands of dollars to the education sector and yet we are treated this way.
“This new condition of higher income levels cannot be met by most Indian migrants. This means thousands of families will suffer and will not be united.
“It will divide many families forever and this is shameful,” he adds.
