What an entertaining innings by Chris Gayle!
If you have read the headline, you already know that West Indies won the game against England. Here’s how they won it.
West Indies won the toss and decided to bowl first.
England’s Alex Hales and Jason Roy’s early partnership of was ended by Andre Russell, who dismissed Roy for a run-a-ball 15. Joe Root came to bat and scored some easy runs helped by West Indian bowlers’ erratic deliveries, where they kept switching between good yorkers and slow balls to wide and short deliveries.
This helped Root and Hales add 55 runs for the second wicket.
Jos Buttler (30 off 20), Morgan (27 not out off 14) and Stokes (15 off 7) then made valuable contributions towards the end of the innings to help England post 182 for 6 in their 20 overs.
West Indies didn’t start off with a bang. WI lost Johnson Charles early on and bowled tight, not allowing any runs between the wickets. West Indies kept losing their batsmen at regular intervals.
Marlon Samuels was gone at 37, Denesh Ramdin at 12 and Dwayne Bravo for just 2 runs when Chris Gayle took matters in his own hands.
Gayle was mostly on the non-striker's end till this point. But once he took charge, he hit English bowlers all over the stadium.
He hit 11 sixes and 5 four’s before recording the fastest century in World T20. He also became the only player to hit two centuries in T20 World Cups.
There was no stopping Gayle in rampage mode and England were at the receiving end as West Indies cruised to victory with 11 balls to spare.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 55 runs

Pakistan took the revenge from Bangladesh as they crushed the Tigers by 55 runs.
Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi who came under severe criticism for his statement about Indian fans, silenced his critics with his superb knock of 49 runs in 19 balls. He may have missed a milestone but he led his team to victory by 55 runs in their first game in the tournament.
Pakistan’s top order finally lived upto expectations. Though the opening partnership didn’t last long, Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez put together 95 runs for the second wicket to put Pakistan in a comfortable place. This allowed Afridi to come up the order, take some risk and hit some hard hitting knocks - which he did.
They put up a formidable total of 201 in 20 overs.
Bangladesh’s bowling was pathetic. Most of the deliveries landed short of pitch which Pakistani batsmen duly sent to boundaries. The captain himself, Mashrafe Mortaza didn’t lead by example who was the second most expensive bowler (3-0-41-0) right behind Al-Amin Hossain (3-0-43-0).
To score 202 runs in 20 overs to win the game was an uphill task for the Bangladesh team. Much to the dismay of their fans present in the stadium, Bangladesh’s shaky start didn’t give them much hope. Sakib Al Hassan was the lone ranger for the day scoring 50 in 40 balls.
Unfortunately for him, despite his best efforts there wasn't much he could do as he got no support and wickets kept falling.
Pakistan wrapped up Bangladesh at 163 with three overs remaining.
