Seacology Award winner Lakshmi
Lakshmi is a seaweed harvester and community leader from Tamil Nadu. She has no formal schooling and started collecting seaweed as a girl. But she has organized local women seaweed harvesters, worked to develop and implement sustainable management practices for the resource they depend on, and helped to preserve their traditional culture and livelihood.Seacology has selected Lakshmi Moorthy as the recipient of the 2015 Seacology Prize. Kulasegaram Sanchayan chats to her about her life and the award.
