The November 25 incident marked the most significant escalation of tensions in the shared Sea of Azov this year and the first time since Russia's unrecognized annexation of Crimea four years ago that Moscow has publicly acknowledged opening fire on Ukrainian forces. "Get out of Ukraine, Mr. Putin," Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko said last Wednesday. But Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Petro Poroshenko of orchestrating a naval "provocation" in the Black Sea to boost his popularity ratings. President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine has declared martial law after what he called new Russian military threats over the weekend. A planned meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin is under a cloud after the US leader told reporters Russia's aggression towards the Ukrainian navy was giving him second thoughts.
