The Federal Government plans to persist with stage-three tax cuts, despite repeated calls from across the Parliament to drop them. The New South Wales Opposition says it would support scrapping mandatory Covid isolation rules if recommended by health experts.


The Federal Government is under pressure to do more to close the gender pay gap with new Australia Institute research showing planned stage three tax cuts will benefit twice as many men as women.

New South Wales train commuters are facing more delays tomorrow as talks between the Rail, Tram and Bus Union with the State Government continue.

The United States has called on Russia to allow United Nations nuclear inspectors safe and unfettered access to the besieged Zaporizhzhia atomic power plant in Ukraine. The Atomic Energy Agency inspection team has set off on its mission to safeguard the plant as Russia and Ukraine accuse each other of shelling the region, raising fears of a massive radiation leak. US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby says inspectors needed free access to assess the plant's security and safeguards as well as the working conditions inside.
