Bogdan Rudnytski interviewed the Ukrainian baritone Andrei Bondarenko, who is the most exciting young baritones today...Despite his youth, he has already appeared at Salzburg Festival, Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Glyndebourne Festival and Touring Opera, Teatro Colon, Cologne Opera, Sydney Opera House, Perm State Opera and Mariinsky Theatre. He also gave his role debut as Billy in Billy Budd in the first ever production in Russia (Mikhailovsky Theatre, St. Petersburg). In 2014-2015 and beyond, his engagements include: Il Conte Le Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Real Madrid, Robert Iolanta with the Gürzenich Orchestra, Marcello La bohème at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and the Opernhaus Zürich, Eugene Onegin and Robert Iolanta for the Dallas Opera, Rachmaninovs Spring Cantata with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Belcore LElisir dAmore for Israeli Opera, Eugene Onegin in Sao Paolo, as well as Billy Budd at the Cologne Opera as well. He will also record the title role in Don Giovanni for Sony Classics. Andrei has recorded Nozze di Figaro (Conte) for Sony Classics, Rachmaninov songs with Iain Burnside at the Queens Hall in Edinburgh for Delphian Records as well as the highly acclaimed Lieutenant Kijé Suite on the BIS label. He has also won the 2011 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition Song Prize.
