In the Australian city of Darwin, Pakistani-born Waseem Akram and Indian-born Vikrant Sharma have shared a strong friendship for the past fifteen years. Despite the political tensions between Pakistan and India, their bond is a living example that sports, love, and humanity transcend borders. In multicultural Australia, their story carries a beautiful message of peace, respect, and brotherhood. Listen in, a special tale of cricket and friendship, told by Waseem and Vikrant themselves in this podcast.

Waseem Akram says, We live here with peace and respect. We value each other’s religious and social beliefs, and no matter the tension between Pakistan and India, we always set it aside. The emotions of cricket should stay on the field; outside, we are friends, and friendship should never turn into hatred.
Vikrant Sharma also considers this bond more than friendship, he calls Waseem a brother. He says, No matter the circumstances, we never let our friendship suffer. This is the beauty of Australia’s multicultural society, where people from diverse cultures and beliefs can live together in peace, love, and respect. Vikrant adds, If you cannot respect the game, it’s better not to play at all. Cricket is more than a sport — it’s a message of passion, ethics, and mutual respect. This story is not just about two friends; it is a living example that love, respect, and humanity are far greater forces than borders or political tensions.
The friendship of Waseem and Vikrant reminds us that through sport, brotherhood, and mutual respect, we can spread a message of peace and love around the world.
