According to the Department of the Environment and Energy, Australia exported more than 400-thousand tonnes of waste in December last year, with a value of $585 million dollars. Closure of the largest recycling company in Victoria has added further pressure on Australian recycling requirements and raising questions about its readiness to handle the issue of landfill.
