Brad Bunting, Mayor of Blacktown, says cultural diversity is one of Australia's greatest strengths. According to him, people from around the world have not only brought their cultures to Blacktown but have also played a vital role in building a strong, connected and inclusive community.
Brad Bunting said Blacktown is one of Australia's largest local government areas, with around 460,000 residents. He noted that more than 188 nationalities and over 180 languages are represented across the community, making it one of the country's most culturally diverse regions.
Brad Bunting said that regardless of where people come from, they share the same basic aspirations: a safe home, quality education, meaningful employment and a better future for their families. He added that greater interaction and dialogue between people of different cultural backgrounds helps break down barriers, reduce prejudice and strengthen social cohesion.
