A Pakistani-Australian teenager has authored a poetry book in what she believes is an attempt to highlight the realities of life.
Malaika Gilani, 16, has penned a collection of short poems Untold Journeys, embracing writing as a form to express her understanding of life and its adventures.
The subjects range from friends, family and self-indulgence to country and sports.
“I couldn’t believe till the time I opened the box and found the books that they would be published,” she laughs.

In an interview with SBS Urdu, she shared her childhood anecdotes, support from friends and family, and her aspirations, all of which contributed in realising her dream.
“I always wanted to write a book,” a determined Malaika says.
