Quetta to Dandenong - Zakiria celebrating creativity

One council in Victoria showcasing art pieces created by artists from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds at the Walker St Gallery and Arts Centre in Dandenong’s fourth annual HOME exhibition. One of the exhibiting artists Zakiria Tahirian who is sharing his art-journey began in his childhood from Quetta (Pakistan) where his father enrolled him in art classes.


Zakiria lived in Australia for various amounts of time but has already made a significant impact on society, both through their artistic endeavour and outside of it. 

Zakiria Tahirian was trained at the Hatif Art School in Pakistan. He is now a practising artist based in Melbourne.  Zakiria has also worked as a curator, exhibitions coordinator and workshop facilitator besides his artistic practice.

Zakiria is using his own experiences as an inspiration in his recent series of work showcasing common person own personal lives and surroundings. Zakiria has chosen to exhibit in "HOME exhibition" for his vision, skill and potential.
