Pope Francis has refused to respond to allegations by a former Vatican official that he helped cover up sex abuse by a cardinal in the United States for years.
The accusation comes after a trip to Ireland where the Pope made a historic apology to victims of abuse perpetrated by Church officials over several decades, the worldwide scandal continues to grow.
